2. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting an enquiry form, making payment, or attending a session, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years of age.
- You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
- You have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
If you are registering on behalf of another individual, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that individual to these terms.
3. Services Described
Bintang offers financial education programmes for adults in Singapore. Our programmes cover topics such as household finance, CPF, the Supplementary Retirement Scheme, savings instruments, and related subjects. All programmes are educational in nature.
- After-Hours Money Study — A six-week evening group programme (Tuesday evenings, maximum ten participants per cohort), SGD 250.
- Singapore Wealth Literacy Course — An eight-week structured course covering the Singapore wealth landscape in depth, SGD 400.
- The Lantern Track — A bespoke six-session private programme tailored to your household's questions, SGD 720.
Programmes are available to residents and citizens of Singapore, and to individuals who are ordinarily resident in Singapore. We reserve the right to decline or limit enrolments at our discretion.
4. Enrolment
Enrolment is confirmed upon receipt of full payment and a written confirmation from Bintang. Places are not held without payment. Cohort sizes are limited; early enquiry is recommended for group programmes.
For the Lantern Track, enrolment is confirmed following an initial conversation with our team to establish that the programme is a suitable fit for your situation.
You agree to provide accurate information at the time of enrolment. If any information changes, please notify us promptly at [email protected].
5. Participant Responsibilities
As a participant, you agree to:
- Attend sessions punctually and engage respectfully with instructors and fellow participants.
- Treat session discussions, including those of other participants, as confidential within the group.
- Use Materials solely for personal, non-commercial learning purposes.
- Refrain from recording sessions (audio or video) without the prior written consent of Bintang and all other participants present.
- Refrain from disruptive behaviour that would interfere with the learning of others.
- Not reproduce, distribute, or publish Materials without the prior written permission of Bintang.
Bintang reserves the right to remove a participant from a session or programme without refund if these responsibilities are not met.
6. Intellectual Property
All Materials produced by Bintang — including printed readers, written summaries, slides, and the structure of our programmes — are the intellectual property of Bintang and are protected under Singapore's Copyright Act 2021.
Upon enrolment, Bintang grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Materials for your own private study. This licence does not permit:
- Reproduction or distribution of Materials in whole or in part.
- Commercial use of any kind.
- Modification or adaptation of Materials.
- Sharing Materials with individuals who have not enrolled in the corresponding programme.
This licence terminates upon the conclusion of your programme. Bintang retains all rights not expressly granted.
7. Fees and Payment
All fees are stated in Singapore Dollars (SGD) and are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. Payment is due in full at the time of enrolment unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in writing with Bintang.
We accept payment by bank transfer and other methods notified to you at the time of enrolment. Payment details will be included in your enrolment confirmation. Card payments are processed by a third-party provider; Bintang does not store card details.
Fees are personal to the enrolled participant and may not be transferred to another individual without our prior written agreement.
8. Cancellation and Refunds
Cancellation by Participant
- Cancellations received more than fourteen (14) days before the first session: full refund, less an administrative fee of SGD 30.
- Cancellations received seven (7) to fourteen (14) days before the first session: 50% refund.
- Cancellations received fewer than seven (7) days before the first session, or after the programme has begun: no refund.
Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected]. The date of receipt of the written request is used to determine the applicable policy.
Cancellation by Bintang
We reserve the right to cancel or postpone a programme due to insufficient enrolments, instructor unavailability, or circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, we will offer a full refund or, where possible, a place in the next available cohort. Bintang is not liable for any consequential costs (such as travel) incurred by the participant.
Missed Sessions
Individual missed sessions within a programme are not refunded. For group programmes, we will provide the relevant printed reader in advance of each session so that you may follow the material independently.
9. Educational Disclaimer
Bintang's programmes are educational in nature and are not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Nothing communicated during a session or in written Materials should be construed as advice personal to your situation.
Bintang does not hold a licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore to provide regulated financial advice. Participants should consult a licensed financial adviser for advice tailored to their personal circumstances. We make no representation regarding the suitability of any financial product, strategy, or approach discussed in our programmes.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Singapore law, Bintang's total liability to a participant arising from or in connection with a programme — whether in contract, tort, or otherwise — shall not exceed the total fees paid by that participant for the relevant programme.
Bintang shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, consequential, or incidental loss or damage.
- Loss of profit, anticipated savings, or business opportunity.
- Any financial decisions made by a participant on the basis of programme content.
- Losses arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control (force majeure).
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bintang, its instructors, and its staff from any claim, loss, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your breach of these Terms and Conditions or from your conduct during a programme.
12. Termination
Bintang may terminate or suspend your participation in a programme without refund if you breach any material provision of these Terms and Conditions, including but not limited to the participant responsibilities in Section 5.
On termination, the licence granted in Section 6 ceases immediately. Provisions of these terms that by their nature survive termination — including Sections 6, 9, 10, 11, and 13 — continue in force.
13. Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Singapore. Both parties will first seek to resolve any dispute or disagreement informally by writing to [email protected]. We will acknowledge your communication within five business days and endeavour to reach a resolution within thirty days.
If informal resolution is not achieved, either party may refer the matter to mediation at the Singapore Mediation Centre before commencing legal proceedings. Any legal proceedings shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
14. General Provisions
- Entire agreement. These Terms and Conditions, together with your enrolment confirmation, constitute the entire agreement between you and Bintang in respect of your programme.
- Severability. If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
- Waiver. A failure by Bintang to enforce any provision of these terms on a particular occasion does not constitute a waiver of that provision going forward.
- Assignment. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these terms without our prior written consent. Bintang may assign its rights and obligations to a successor organisation without notice.
- Notices. Formal notices to Bintang should be sent by email to [email protected] or by post to 19 Amoy Street, #03-07, Singapore 069852.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects your rights in relation to a programme you have already enrolled in, we will notify you by email. Continued participation in a programme following notification of a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
